College Information
1. College Name: Spokane College of English Language (SCEL)

3. College Environment: On the Spokane Community College Campus.

4. Building: Offices in building #7, classrooms 15-114, and 15-101C in building #15.

5. Years of Operation: Established in 2007.
Facilities at SCC
1. Athletic Department Athletic facilities include a full-size pool, indoor and outdoor running tracks, fast fitness center, weight room, tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer and football fields, and complete track and field facilities.

2. Computers Computer Labs are available for students to use in Buildings 1, 7, 8, 9, 16, and 19. Open lab times vary depending on class schedules. Student KIOSK computers are available in Buildings 15 and 50 during normal business hours.

3. Bookstore The bookstore offers film developing, stamps, tools, greeting cards, clothing, electronics and computer software at discounted rates.

4.Game Room The game room features billiard tables, ping pong tables, darts, video games, TV room, and a jukebox.
Programs
1. Intensive English Our Intensive English Program is designed to improve overall competency in English. These programs are intended to prepare students for college academic or technology courses, university pathways, career advancement, or for personal interest.

2. English for Academic Purposes (Direct Entry to Spokane Community College) The Spokane Community College has a partnership agreement with SCEL whereby students can study EAP courses at SCEL. Completion of EAP meets English entry requirement for the Spokane Community College undergraduate programs.

3. EAP + ONE Students in the EAP program are eligible to take one regular college credit course while they are completing their English studies. The college course can be selected from any of hundreds of courses offered each term.

4. Certificate/Diploma in English This Certificate in English Program is a 12 week academic program for students seeking proficiency in English. This program is perfect for a student wishing to take international or U.S. Exams. Strict rules regarding attendance, assignments and class participation. This Diploma is issued to students who have completed the 2 levels of Certificate in English program. (24 weeks)
Program Details
1. Minimum Age to Attend General English Course: 16 years old.

2. Course Start: Any Monday (If National Holiday on Monday, Tuesdays).

3. Minimum Duration for General English Course: 4 weeks.

4. Levels & Textbook: 1- 6 levels. “Headway” Textbook by Oxford University Press.

5. Number of students per class: MIN(8); MAX(15); AVE(13).
Homestay for Students
1. Coordinator at College: In-house full-time homestay & accommodation coordinator.

2. Homestay Profile: Long-term, safe, middle/upper class, convenient Host Families. Families interviewed up to twice a year and screened for quality of service provided to our students.

3. Meals per week? 14 meals(half-board) or 21 meals(full-board).

4. Transportation to/from College: Easy and safe access by public bus.

5. Duration: 20-40 minutes to College, depending on traffic and location of homestay.
Transfer Services
1. Student Arrival Date: Any date, any time!

2. Airport available for pick-up service: Spokane International Airport (Drop-Off Service also available).

3. Arrival Pick-Up Personnel: Homestay, School or Support Staff with SCEL Sign Board.
First Day at School
1. First day for new students: Must be at school by 09:00am!

2. Orientation and testing schedule: Depends on volume of students and/or program’s itinerary for that day. Normally 2 hours long, followed by interview and study plan development.

3. Class on First day? Not in the morning, however students can start afternoon classes, if applicable.

4. Contents of Level Assessment Test: It takes about 30 minutes of computer testing, with 40 multiple answers, and writting section.

5. What to Bring to School? Pen, Notepad, Dictionary(optional), Passport.

6. Textbook: Deposit of $US 50. Amount is fully-refundable at end of course
