Michael Maddock earned his Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, where he studied English, amongst other disciplines.
Next, he enhanced his writing and teaching skills in Colorado at Pikes Peak CC and University of Colorado. He then earned an English as a Second Language (ESL) Credential and a Multiple Subject Credential from California State University, East Bay in Hayward, California. With educational pursuits spanning 3 states, Colorado, California and Washington, Michael has not only passed several teacher exams, he has achieved recognized status on many of them, having achieved "Excellence." His college career includes over 116 credits -- post undergraduate degree, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.9.
Michael's hobbies include playing and watching soccer, snowboarding and spending time with his wife and two young daughters. He loves music and games and brings many of these interests into the class room to engage his students in an academically challenging and delightful educational experience. |

Ben Whitmore received his B.A. degree in English Education from Eastern Washington University. He has taught all ages of International students for three years in the Spokane area. Wanting to focus on adult education, Ben began teaching ESL full-time for the Spokane College of English Language. As a native Washingtonian, Ben enjoys sharing the local culture and history with his students. What makes SCEL so unique is the community and relationships that are built. Ben and his fellow teachers take great pride in making sure that the student feels comfortable and at ‘home’ in such a faraway place. |

David McCaw spent ten years teaching English to high school students and adults in Nagasaki, Japan. He has also lived in Brazil and Palestine, and has traveled to France, Germany, Egypt, Thailand, and Korea. With a passion for helping people grow and a love of inter-cultural learning, he refers to teaching ESL as his “dream job.” David received a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga, and has spent some time studying linguistics through a Georgetown University satellite program in Tokyo. In his free time, he enjoys coaching and playing soccer (especially with his students) |
